Creative Therapy

If you are a creative person and would appreciate a counsellor who reflects this quality please do get in touch. I have much experience and a special interest in working with musicians, artists, photographers actors and all creative people.

Attachment Therapy

I have a particular interest in attachment theory and the impact of insecure bonding. Exploring and working with the manner in which people connect underpins all of my work including couples and family sessions. I love to work with the family genogram, which constantly surprises me. It regularly highlights family patterns, unconscious basis and eventransgenerational trauma. I endeavour to repair the attachment through the client/therapist relationship and bring conscious awareness to behavioural and relationship styles.

Trauma and abuse

I have worked extensively and successfully with the effects experienced from trauma and abuse, including narcissistic parenting.  I work with all responses to trauma including: PTSD, dissociative response and de-realisation. I include a range of approaches in treating my clients. I am a registered Rewind and  EMDR therapist. I aim for the individual to develop strategies to help build and strengthen an inner sense of safety, find inner resources and heal from the traumatic or stressful life experiences.

Stress, anxiety and mindfulness

I am an experienced mindfulness practitioner having completed a post-graduate diploma with the Karuna institute and an MBCL course. Mindfulness is effective in relieving pain, providing relaxation, reducing anxiety and stress, lifting depression, and reducing blood pressure. I am able to provided guided meditations and help support living in a more mindful and self-compassionate way.

Integration Therapy and the Transpersonal

Holding space for transcendence has been an interest of mine for over 30 years. I have years of experience working with clients wanting to prepare, share and integrate their experience in expanded states. Depth work, the transpersonal, and integration of our unconscious processes have always underpinned my work.

I approach the therapeutic relationship from a foundation of mindfulness, compassion, curiosity and respect. I believes that each of us possess an internal source of wisdom that can be cultivated through psychotherapy, meditation practices, psychedelic medicines and other connecting practices which connect the brain, body and spirit.

I am comfortable and familiar with sitting in, and co-creating, a safe environment and relationship which can contain and help make sense of experiences outside of the norm and every day existence. It brings me great joy to support this unfolding, and reconnection of repressed or hidden aspects of self,  by co-creating a space with clients to be as they really are, in all their beautiful complexity.

Supervision

I am trained in the Hawkins and Shohet's 7 eyed model. I believe it offers a robust yet creative container to explore your client work together. It is playful, imaginative and attends to the practicalities of the therapeutic relationship as well as the unconscious processes afoot. It is expansive and active, offering ways for the therapist and supervisor to shift focus, potentially adjust the view of the therapist and offering fresh insights to the client and the therapeutic relationship.

Along side this model I will also bring the many years of experience, trainings, personal therapy and my own experience of supervision to the process.

I will be undertaking further supervision training in the next 12 months.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
