About me

I am a warm and empathic qualified Integrative Therapist (BACP registered) with over a 1000 clinical hours, offering clients a welcoming space to explore difficult feelings without judgement, and with the aim to bring about positive change.

Our therapeutic relationship will be honest, and most importantly, equal. Whilst I will not be an expert on you, telling you what you should do, neither will I be a passive counsellor who remains distanced. Instead, I will walk alongside you, offering empathy, insight, and unconditional positive regard.

Making the initial decision to seek out counselling can be a challenge, and thereafter, finding the right person for you even more so. I am happy to answer any questions you may have, with no obligation, and if it feels right, you are welcome to make contact to arrange an initial 30-minute meeting, with no charge.

My practice is situated in a garden room in Hassocks, and I enjoy the peace and calm that it offers, and hope that you will too. Access is through a side gate, and the room is not overlooked, ensuring your privacy is protected, and allowing you to focus solely on what you hope to achieve in sessions.

Training, qualifications & experience

My Integrative Diploma qualification offered in-depth training in multiple approaches; Person Centred Therapy, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Psychodynamic and Solution Focussed Therapy.

I work predominantly from a Humanistic perspective, meeting the person where they are in the moment, allowing the theory to support, rather than dominate.

I have worked for the NHS, at the Sussex Cancer Centre, supporting patients and their families who are undergoing life altering diagnosis and treatment. It is nothing less than a privilege to meet and offer support to these clients at such a traumatic time in their lives, and it is work I will continue with in the future, alongside my practice. As such, I do have particular experience supporting through the trauma of serious illness.

I have experience counselling individuals facing a number of difficulties, such as;

  • Bereavement
  • Trauma
  • Serious illness
  • Suicidal Ideation
  • Self Harm
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Loss
  • Fear of Dying
  • Family & Relationship issues
  • Low self-esteem
  • Cancer
  • Health Anxiety
  • Divorce & Separation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I specialise in working with patients and their families facing cancer diagnosis and treatment. This is a trauma that many people are sadly facing, and my work with the Macmillan Psychological Therapies team at the Sussex Cancer Centre has offered experience and insight, enabling me to offer support in these difficult times.
