About me
Welcome, I’m Emma – an Integrative Counsellor offering both in-person and online therapy from professional consulting rooms in Leigh-on-Sea.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or simply unsure of how to move forward, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to go through it alone. Life can present challenges that feel confusing, isolating or heavy to carry. Therapy offers a space to process those thoughts and feelings in a safe, supportive environment.
I work with adults and adolescent's across a broad range of concerns, including anxiety, OCD, neurodiversity, gender and sexuality, relationship and intimacy issues, and maternal mental health. My practice is inclusive, collaborative, and tailored to your individual needs and experiences.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) & Health Anxiety
Intrusive thoughts, compulsive behaviours, and relentless “what ifs” can be deeply distressing and disruptive. Whether you're stuck in a cycle of checking, counting, researching, or ruminating, it may be time to seek specialised support.
My approach to OCD is structured, evidence-based, and compassionate. I provide consistent support while helping you challenge fear and lean into uncertainty in a way that feels manageable. Together, we’ll work to break unhelpful cycles and move toward a life grounded in your values—not your fears.
Gender, Sexuality & Relationship Support
Are you navigating questions about your gender identity or sexuality? Are you facing challenges in your intimate relationships or with sexual behaviours that feel out of control?
I work with people from across the LGBTQ+ spectrum, including transgender, non-binary, gender-diverse, and gender-questioning individuals. Therapy is a space for you to explore your identity safely and authentically, with or without a focus on transitioning.
In my work with relationships and intimacy, I offer a holistic, non-judgemental and sex-positive approach. Instead of using traditional “addiction” models, I use psychosexual therapy methods that promote deeper understanding, self-compassion, and meaningful change. The goal is to help you cultivate a satisfying and vibrant sex life and healthy, connected relationships.
Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapy
If you’ve recently been diagnosed with ADHD or Autism—or suspect you may be neurodivergent—you might be facing new questions about identity, relationships, or daily functioning. I work from a neurodivergent-affirming perspective to support clients in embracing their authentic selves, while also navigating the challenges that come with a world not always built for difference.
Maternal Mental Health & Parenting Support
Pregnancy and parenthood can be joyful, but they can also bring emotional challenges. You may be experiencing symptoms of perinatal depression, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or struggling with the impact of IVF, birth trauma, or changes in your relationship.
Alongside my private practice, I work with the organisation Netmums to support parents and couples through these life transitions. Whether you're preparing for parenthood or finding it difficult after birth, therapy can provide a supportive space to talk, reflect, and heal.
My Approach
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of therapeutic models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis, Inner Child work, Psychodynamic and Person-Centred approaches. Each session is adapted to meet your specific needs and preferences.
Some of the areas I support clients with include: Anxiety & Panic, OCD & Health Anxiety, Depression & Low Mood, Trauma & PTSD, ADHD & Autism (Neurodiversity), Gender Dysphoria, Sexual Compulsions & Intimacy Issues, Stress & Burnout, Body Image & Self-Esteem, Relationship Challenges, Grief & Loss, Life Transitions, LGBTQ+ Issues, Substance Use Concerns and Childhood Trauma & Shame.
You’ll find a compassionate, non-judgemental space in my practice—where you’re free to speak openly and be heard without fear or shame. Together, we’ll work toward gaining insight, understanding patterns, and creating meaningful, lasting change.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
