About me

Are you feeling sad, overwhelmed, stressed or full of anxiety? Struggling with family issues, relationships or struggling with symptoms of depression  and low mood?

Do you find yourself feeling “not good enough” ? Feeling inadequate, not worthy ? Struggling with low self esteem and confidence?

These are thoughts and feelings I have worked with clients extensively on and through, how to reframe those thoughts and feelings, to allow you to feel the opposite of the above. To be able to be kinder and more compassionate to yourself which in turn will promote positive changes in your life and how you feel.

It’s normal to find things difficult at times, and you don’t have to do this on your own.

Starting counselling can feel like a scary experience, but you have already made the first step by being here on my page.

Hello, I’m Emma, thank you for taking the time to look at my introduction, I am a qualified integrative counsellor, with my core training being in person centred therapy. I have lived experience of ADHD and offer a neuro affirming practice.

I believe that one of the greatest gifts you can be given in life is to speak and be truly listened to, heard and understood, this is what I can offer you.

A non-judgemental, friendly, compassionate and confidential space in which to discuss and explore your issues whatever they may be.

I really believe that experiencing validation of your feelings can allow you to explore them in greater depth and together we will explore them, at a pace that you feel comfortable with.

I offer sessions that work for you, be that weekly, fortnightly or monthly and have availability for some evenings and weekend sessions; I am currently working online and by telephone.

I also offer walk and talk therapy in and around the West Oxfordshire area.

I can now offer face to face sessions from the Wellness Centre on Beechwood Park in Stow-on-the-wold.

I have worked for the last 4 years within an agency called Clean Slate who help and support people who have experienced physical, mental, sexual and financial abuse.

Miscarriage, baby loss and infertility is a topic very close to my heart, I've seen and experienced first hand the devastation and heartbreak it brings with it, the longing for answers, the aching to hold your baby in your arms. The feeling that this pain will never end, that no one can understand, that it will never get better.

I am a big believer that the grief doesn't go away, or that time heals all, but that we as people grow around that grief, it doesn't get smaller, we grow around it.

I am an accredited member of the BACP and adhere to their code of ethics.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
