About me

Hi, I’m Emma, a qualified trauma-informed counsellor offering face-to-face and online counselling for individuals aged 16 and over from a private, welcoming space near Cannock Town Centre.

You might be used to dealing with things on your own — pushing feelings aside, staying busy, or struggling to put into words how you really feel. Over time, that can become exhausting and leave you feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, emotionally shut down, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you.

I work with people experiencing difficulties such as:

  • Past trauma and childhood experiences
  • Anger and emotional regulation
  • Relationship and communication difficulties
  • Anxiety, shame, and low self-worth
  • Feeling disconnected from yourself or others
  • Loss of identity or direction
  • Difficulty opening up or trusting others

Many of the people I work with aren’t used to talking about how they feel, or may not know where to begin — and that’s completely okay. You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting counselling. We can work through things together, at a pace that feels manageable for you.

My Approach
I believe you are the expert in your own life. My role is to support you in exploring your experiences, understanding yourself more deeply, and making sense of the thoughts, feelings, or patterns that may be holding you back.

I offer a warm, down-to-earth, and non-judgemental space where you can speak openly and honestly without fear of criticism or pressure. Alongside empathy and support, I may gently challenge you where appropriate to help encourage growth and self-awareness.

I’m also not afraid of appropriate humour when it feels right. Therapy doesn’t always have to be heavy, and humour can sometimes be an important part of feeling human, connected, and safe.

As an Integrative Counsellor, I draw from different therapeutic approaches to tailor our work to your individual needs. Sessions are collaborative, grounded, and centred around what feels right for you. You won’t be pushed to talk about anything before you’re ready.

My experience as a counsellor is varied and includes supporting clients with trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction and dependency, grief and bereavement, relationship difficulties, shame, identity struggles, and emotional disconnection.

Starting counselling can feel like a big step — especially if you’re used to handling things alone. That’s completely understandable.

If you feel ready to take that step, I offer a free, no-obligation 20-minute chat. This gives us an opportunity to talk about what’s bringing you to counselling and whether working together feels like the right fit.

Thank you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
