About me

Hello, I'm Emma, a qualified counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Are you feeling overwhelmed by life’s challenges or struggling to understand your emotions? Engaging in therapy can help you to understand yourself better and help you to make sense of why you feel the way you do. It takes a lot of courage to ask for help. I know the idea of counselling can feel daunting at first, so it is, my aim to guide you through the process by offering a warm, supportive and non-judgemental environment.

What you can expect from me

My private practice is called At Your Side Counselling and I work at two locations in Basingstoke and Overton. Both settings provide a tranquil safe space where your comfort is key.

As an integrative therapist I use a variety of counselling techniques to ensure I meet your needs, I do not believe in a 'one size fits all' approach because each person is different. My work is focused on you as an individual, free from assumptions or stereotypes. I will be at your side each step of the way so, together, we can explore any issues that you may be struggling with and find ways for you to move forward. I offer both long-term and short-term therapy - this space is yours for you as long as you feel you need it.

I work with both individuals and couples and, therefore, have a lot of experience of working with clients who are facing relational issues.   This can come in the form of complications with partners, friends, colleagues or family conflict. The relationships we have play a role in the shaping of how we experience the world. This is why I believe strong and fulfilling relationships with others can help people maintain positive emotional well being.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
