About me

Counselling can be positive and life changing, but I also understand how difficult it can be to begin. Many of us can feel anxious about facing our issues and going over things that we may have buried or feel that we've dealt with. When you find a counsellor who can work alongside you to learn more about yourself, and who works with you to make the changes that you want to, it can be life-changing.

I am an experienced integrative counsellor having worked with people who've had a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, work stress, bereavement, trauma, health worries, and many of the other big issues that life throws at us. My initial training was as a person-centred counsellor, and I have since trained in other theories, picking up tools and techniques which all enable me to find the best way to work with you. We're all individuals, and I take the time to find out how you like to work.

I will always provide a warm and friendly space for you, and I will work hard to develop a quality relationship with you. I believe that we are all capable of change and growth. I am gentle but challenging when it's right for you.

I provide face-to-face, online or phone counselling. I have a counselling room in Wateringbury which is just outside of Maidstone.

I provide short-term and longer-term counselling. This is something we can decide on together. I will regularly check in with you on how you're finding the sessions. This helps to evaluate your progress and to ensure long term change.

Choosing a counsellor can be difficult, especially if it’s your first time or if you haven’t had a positive experience before. I’m always happy to have a chat first about how we can work together and answer any questions you might have.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
