About me
Hi, I'm Ella. I’m a qualified pluralistic-integrative counsellor with a background in psychology.
I’m also a registered member of the BACP.
My approach to psychotherapy is relational and trauma-informed, using person-centred, gestalt, existential philosophy, attachment theory, Clarkson’s 5-relationships model, along with aspects of cognitive behavioural therapy, psychodynamic and creative tools to facilitate self-awareness, change, coping and healing.
Recognising the uniqueness of every person that engages with therapy, my approach is flexible and collaborative, tailoring the therapy to meet your needs.
I support adults from a diverse background, including ethnic minority, neurodivergent and the LGBTQ+ communities, struggling with different life and mental health issues, including:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Low mood
- Bereavement
- Grief & loss
- Relationship issues
- Self-esteem and confidence issues
- Self-identity issues
- Trauma including socially induced trauma
From my own ongoing experience of personal therapy, I appreciate the value of a safe space to talk through my worries and challenges and to feel validated and truly seen in all aspects of my identity. As such, I offer a safe, confidential space combined with a warmth that aims to foster genuine connection and a trusting relationship that supports your needs.
I work online and offer face-to-face sessions at private practices in Bridgend and Porthcawl, South Wales.

Experience:
I’m currently in part-time employment in the role of Mental Health Support Worker with Caredig, a nonprofit registered social landlord (RSL) based in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot. I work within the care and support arm of the organisation, ensuring the housing, mental health and wellbeing needs of the more vulnerable people on our tenancy are met. The service-users on the tenancy generally have a dual diagnosis of a complex mental health issue (e.g., borderline personality disorder, schizophrenia), or trauma coupled with drug or alcohol misuse. I collaborate with tenants by listening and negotiating to develop and agree their personal goals. I assist or support in the implementation of the tenant’s goal as agreed in their support plans. I build on or develop the tenant’s psychologically informed environment (PIE) picture, to create a risk plan and goal summary for the tenant, liaising with the local community mental health teams, general practitioner services and third sector organisations to ensure that the tenant’s psychological health and wellbeing needs are being met and reviewed on a frequency basis.
In a volunteer qualified counsellor capacity, I deliver counselling services on behalf of Mental Health Matters Wales – Talking Connections charity based in Bridgend. I deliver counselling services to clients including neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ clients presenting with common life-to-mental-health problems, such as depression, anxiety, including social anxiety, bereavement, complex grief, relationship, work-life balance, and social issues.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
