About me

Welcome. You may find yourself here because your world has been turned upside down and you are experiencing a crisis.

Perhaps you are yet to discover who you are and are feeling lost or misunderstood.

You may be looking to learn healthy ways to cope with stress, manage overwhelming emotions, and build resilience whilst challenging negative self-beliefs.

It could be that you are looking to improve communication, resolve conflicts and strengthen relationships.

Whatever the reason, by being here, you are taking the first step to allow yourself the sacred gift of time and space. I offer a non-judgemental, calm, and confidential setting in which together we can take a deeper look into the issues which impact your quality of life and overall sense of well-being. I believe that somewhere within you, you hold the resources and wisdom to meet whatever life brings.

My aim is to journey alongside you and make meaning out of your experiences whilst helping you overcome difficulties and challenges. I’ll support you in finding your own insights, nurture your personal growth and actively encourage you to take ownership of your life as a way of becoming more fulfilled and authentic in everyday existence.

I recognise the decision to begin therapy takes courage. I believe in working in the here and now and being guided by you, and what you choose to bring on the day. It is important that you feel comfortable and work at your own pace.

My approach is integrative and draws from a variety of theories and frameworks. It is largely influenced by phenomenology and existentialism with elements of psychodynamic theory. I will honour the uniqueness in you and endeavour to build a trusting therapeutic alliance, where you feel welcome exactly as you are.

I offer a free introductory 30 minute online session or phone call, with no expectation that you will continue your journey with me beyond that.

This call is an opportunity for us to meet, discuss what brought you to counselling and help us decide whether I could be the right counsellor for you. During this time, I welcome any questions you may have and look at how we might work together.

If it feels right for you to continue counselling with me, we will agree an initial number of sessions. Once we have completed our initial sessions, we will review how things are going, and see whether you want to finalise the counselling there, agree another series of sessions, or work on an ongoing basis.

If you would like to explore the possibility of counselling with me, please do get in touch and I will contact you to arrange a call.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
