About me

Hi there, my name is Liz and a warm welcome to this space!

I'm an integrative counsellor in my late forties (but what does 'integrative' actually mean, you may wonder...) I recognise it can be confusing reading different counselling terms, so to help with this, I'll explain a little further... My way of working essentially means that I can draw on different therapeutic modalities to tailor the best approach for you. After all, no two people are the same. No matter why you are seeking counselling, I will endeavour to work in a way that best fits you and respects you as the expert in the room and on your life, even if it may not feel that way to you - after all, it can take a great deal of courage to allow that belief in. My aim is to offer warmth, empathy and compassion in a space that will allow you to explore at your own pace whatever may be troubling you, causing distress or impacting negatively on your life. I understand how muddled and messy life can feel at times and we all need an opportunity from time to time to slow down, to breathe, to have space and time to focus on ourselves and make sense of whatever challenges we face. I'm very much here to walk alongside you, supporting your navigation whilst we explore your feelings and experiences together. Maybe you've been walking a path on your own for a long time...I can be the person to walk with you. You don't have to be alone. Please know that my place is not to judge but to meet you exactly where you are, as you are, and to facilitate a space where you can breathe and just 'be' with no expectation.

Part of how I work is in the here and now (which is very much a 'person-centred' approach), but there may be times when it's more appropriate to look back (working in a psychodynamic way) and explore earlier life experiences, which are impacting on the present. Again this is something we can look at together.

Thank you for visiting my profile. I hope you find what you are seeking and wish you well on your journey towards growth, fulfilment and healing.
