About me

Hi, I’m Liz. I offer a relationship that’s compassionate, authentic and non-judgmental. Life might feel harder than usual. Together we can explore what it’s like to be you, and what matters most to you.

Many people consider therapy when they're facing a period of change or loss, or have noticed patterns in their lives or relationships they’d like to explore, or have a sense of wanting to understand themselves better. You might be supporting others (children, parents, partners, friends) through tough times and find yourself in need of some support too. You don’t need to have all the answers before you begin. Sometimes simply having the space to reflect can be the first step towards different perspectives.

I bring together experience in public sector leadership, coaching and psychotherapy to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds. I’ve lived, studied and worked in four different countries and have experienced many of life’s transitions myself. These experiences have given me a deep appreciation of how change can shape our sense of identity, belonging and relationships.

How I work and how I can help

Trained in humanistic counselling and psychotherapy, I don’t see people as having problems to be fixed. I see each person as having their own unique story, relationships and experiences. The therapeutic relationship is central to our work. I aim to offer a warm, relational space where you can share your thoughts and feelings openly. I will meet you with authenticity, acceptance and compassion.

Together we can explore what’s troubling you, while gently considering how earlier relationships and experiences may continue to influence the way you see yourself, how you relate to others and how you experience the world. Through understanding yourself better, new perspectives and possibilities can often begin to emerge. Meaningful and lasting change - whatever that might look like for you - can be possible.

Who I work with

I work with adults (18+) in person in Tunbridge Wells or across the UK online. I have wide experience working with people undergoing life transitions e.g. career change, geographical relocation, divorce, menopause and recent diagnoses of autism and ADHD. I have a particular interest in supporting parents of children at every life stage. My youngest client has been in their early twenties and the oldest in their late seventies.

Other areas of work include: anxiety and stress; depression and low mood; grief and loss; relationship difficulties; life transitions; identity and self-worth; parenting challenges; work-related stress; health-related challenges; neurodivergence (diagnosed and self-identified); and feeling ‘stuck’.

Next steps

I invite you to get in touch to arrange a free 20-minute call. We can talk about what brings you to therapy, what you'd be hoping for in our work together, and to see if we’re a good match. Research consistently links therapy outcomes to the therapeutic relationship, so it’s important for both of us to assess whether we're a good fit. If we decide to continue, we'll agree on a mutually convenient weekly session, either in person in my practice rooms in Tunbridge Wells or online.

I hold an enhanced DBS check and am fully insured.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
