About me

As an integrative therapist, I provide a compassionate and supportive environment for you to explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment.

After an 18-year teaching career, I decided to train as a psychotherapist as I felt passionate about helping those with mental health difficulties achieve their potential. I was drawn to the profession because of my deep belief in the power of human connection and the profound impact that empathy and understanding can have on an individual’s life.

Throughout my own life, I have experienced the transformative effects of having someone truly listen and support me during challenging times. This inspired me to pursue a career where I could offer the same compassion and support to others, helping people navigate their struggles and uncover their strengths.

Having ADHD myself, I am passionate about helping other neurodivergent people; I am all too aware of some of the social barriers we can come up against, as well as the mental struggles that can stop us from recognising our full potential. I am also interested in developing my practice around occupational stress and anxiety, which I have seen be a struggle for so many people.

What to expect from sessions
In the first sessions, I will invite you to tell me your story and what you would like to work on. We can set some goals, and I will be led by you. I am trained in integrative therapy, which means I incorporate different theoretical approaches into the therapy. However, I would describe my therapeutic modality as mainly person-centred, which is a non-directive therapy. This means that I won’t normally be offering advice or giving you homework tasks. You are the expert in your life and healing; I will provide a space and accompany you on your journey to meet your goals.

In our work together, we may explore the unconscious processes that influence your thoughts and behaviours, as well as the roles and scripts you adopt in your interactions with others.

Additionally, we can examine your early attachment experiences to understand how they shape your current relationships and emotional patterns. This comprehensive approach allows us to delve deeply into your past and present, fostering self-awareness and healing.

By combining these theories, I aim to support you in uncovering the root causes of your struggles, developing healthier relational patterns, and ultimately achieving a more integrated and fulfilling sense of self.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
