About me
Hello and welcome. My name is Liz and I’m an integrative counsellor working in the north Bristol area. People come to therapy for a number of different reasons. Perhaps you feel lost or overwhelmed in life, maybe you have experienced a difficult or traumatic event, or perhaps you would like to work through mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression etc. Whether you are new to therapy or a returning client I offer a space that is supportive and compassionate. My role is not to tell you what to do or offer you advice but to create a place for us to explore what it’s like to be in your shoes.
This first step can be daunting and takes huge courage. For this reason, I offer a free 20 minute consultation. This gives us an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to counselling and see whether you feel comfortable working with me. I believe in the importance of the therapeutic alliance and this consultation gives us an opportunity to explore what you want from your counsellor.
My core training is in person centred counselling. This style focuses on the presence of empathy, free from judgment and the unique experiences of each individual. I work in a non-directive way which means sessions will be led by you and we will go at your pace. I believe that you are the expert on your life and my role is to be alongside you ensuring that you are heard and understood on your counselling journey.
I have experience working in long term counselling and also offering short term interventions. During our initial consultation, we may discuss how you would like to work and what is going to suit you best.
I am passionate about the counselling process and the quality of the relationship we have with ourselves. I hope to help clients to reach a place of self-acceptance, self-compassion and peace with being who they are.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
