About me
Hi, I’m Liz, and I run Selfscape Counselling. I offer a calm, creative and compassionate space to explore the inner terrain of your experiences, the thoughts, emotions, and echoes that shape who you are.
As a humanistic counsellor, I support clients with a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity exploration, life transitions, relationships, body image, eating challenges, self-harm, stress, trauma, and bereavement. With empathy and understanding, I help you uncover hidden layers of awareness, empowering you to navigate your journey towards self-discovery and healing.
I have a real passion for supporting young people aged 11–25 as they move through the many changes, from childhood, through adolescence, and into adulthood. These years are full of big questions around identity, belonging, relationships, and figuring out who they’re becoming, which can feel exciting, confusing, and overwhelming all at once. I feel genuinely privileged to walk alongside young people during this time, offering a safe space where they can feel heard, understood, and supported as they grow.
I also have experience supporting young people who are living with neurodiversity such as Autism and ADHD. My approach is gentle, collaborative, and always paced according to each young person’s individual needs. I also offer creative therapeutic options, including sand tray, painting, clay, puppets, cards and more. This is guided by the young person’s own preferences, to help keep sessions engaging and accessible. All of this helps create a safe and supportive space for them to explore their thoughts and feelings.
My experiences have given me deep insight into how our early experiences, relationships, and environments shape our sense of self. Also how, with the right support, as a young person or adult, we can begin to rebuild a more compassionate and authentic relationship with ourselves.
I also have a passion for supporting weight related issues. Having experienced my own bariatric transformation, I recognise how complex and deeply personal the process of change can be, physically, emotionally, and psychologically. I bring empathy and insight to my work with clients navigating body image, self-esteem, and identity after weight loss or assisted change, helping them reconnect with their sense of self beyond the surface.
Together, we can explore your experiences with curiosity and creativity, using imagery, symbols, and metaphor to bring what’s beneath the surface into awareness. I often invite clients to work creatively, through writing, drawing, or symbolic expression. This can help unearth the subconscious and deepen understanding of self. My approach is grounded in the belief that we all hold an inner wisdom and the capacity for growth and healing.
Whatever you’re holding, whether it feels big or small, you don’t have to carry it alone, I will walk alongside you across the shifting landscape of self.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am Level 5 qualified in Humanistic Counselling and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I have spent over 15 years working with children and young people in various capacities, including education (primary and secondary) and pastoral support. During the latter part of this time, my role as a pastoral support and wellbeing mentor for students, aged 11–16 inspired me to pursue counselling as a career. I supported students through the many challenges that secondary school life can bring, including self-worth and self-esteem, self-harm, social media pressure, friendship issues, bereavement, family dynamics, exam stress, school pressure, gender questioning, anxiety, depression, peer influence, addiction, risk-taking behaviours, relationship issues (family and romantic), body image, eating disorders, food avoidance, emetophobia, and misophonia.
I have undertaken specialist training in Counselling & Nutrition for Bariatric Patients and Assisted Weight Loss, combining my humanistic approach with an understanding of how body image, self-esteem, and emotional wellbeing are deeply interconnected.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
