About me

I am a senior Clinical Psychologist with over eight years’ experience of working in NHS services and with the third sector. I am registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC).

I have worked with people with a range of difficulties, including low mood and anxiety (panic, social anxiety, OCD) and low self-esteem and confidence. I have often worked with people who have experienced significant hardship and adversity in their early lives, who are finding it difficult to form and maintain satisfying relationships with themselves and others and want to explore their ways of relating. I use relational and trauma focused models to work with people experiencing (complex) post-traumatic stress disorder (c-PTSD). I have worked with people who have unusual experiences, including hearing voices and seeing or sensing things that other people may not and can support people to make sense of and find meaning in these experiences. I am also experienced in working with people who wish to change their relationship with drugs and alcohol.

I have trained in a variety of therapeutic models, including cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy approaches, compassion focused therapy, eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) and schema therapy. I often draw on multiple models to provide integrative short or long-term therapy, depending on your hopes for therapy.

My approach

I know that finding a therapist and starting therapy can be difficult. I can support you to clarify what you would like to work on in therapy and we spend time developing a shared understanding of any difficulties before planning how to move forward with an approach that best suits you.

I value authenticity, compassion and curiosity in my work. My focus is on being present with you and enabling you to speak about what is most important. I am committed to supporting you to make lasting changes that allow you to live a valued and and meaningful life. I believe that it is essential that therapy recognises our sociopolitical context and supports us to understand our lives within the social systems we exist within.

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
