About me
My name is Dorottya, and I am an Integrative Therapist, Coach, and Organisational Psychologist with over 13 years of experience in the field of Psychology. Originally from Hungary, I trained and built my professional career in the UK and now offer personalised therapy for individuals and couples. I currently work with clients online.
My approach is grounded in Personal Consultancy, an integrative model that combines Counselling, Psychotherapy, and Coaching. This allows me to support clients in exploring and healing emotional wounds, while also providing a structured, goal-focused space for growth and development. As an integrative practitioner, I draw from person-centred, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioural therapies, tailoring each session to the unique needs of the individual.
I have a particular interest in working with trauma and am trained as an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) practitioner. EMDR is a powerful, evidence-based approach designed to help people process and recover from distressing or traumatic experiences. My work in this area is grounded in a deep understanding of how trauma impacts the mind and body. I strive to create a safe, compassionate space for clients to work through difficult experiences at their own pace—whether related to a single incident or complex developmental trauma. Supporting individuals in reclaiming a sense of safety, connection, and inner strength is at the heart of my practice.
My background spans clinical, forensic, organisational, and business psychology. I have worked across a range of sectors, including education, aviation, victim support, the criminal justice system (courts, police, prisons, probation services), community rehabilitation, and private practice. This broad experience informs my holistic and systemic perspective on human behaviour, relationships, and identity.
Having lived in multiple countries, I bring an awareness of cultural diversity, life transitions, and the intricacies of identity formation. My therapeutic work is culturally sensitive and adaptive, using a blend of psychological theory and practical tools to meet each client's unique context and needs.
For individuals, I offer support with trauma, relational difficulties, anxiety, life transitions, and identity-related challenges. For couples, I work to identify unhelpful patterns and create a more open and empathetic dialogue.
Thanks to my background in Organisational and Business Psychology, I also have a particular interest in work-related challenges. I have supported executive leaders, mid-to-senior managers, and professionals across both public and private sectors in navigating workplace dynamics, leadership challenges, and career transitions.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I have extensive experience working within the criminal justice system (with staff, ex-offenders and victims). I have a special interest in working with male clients, cultural issues and masculinity.
