About me
My name is Dorottya, and I am a BACP-accredited psychotherapist and psychologist with over 13 years’ experience supporting adults with trauma, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and major life transitions.
I currently offer online EMDR therapy for individuals.
I specialise in working with trauma — including single-incident trauma (such as accidents, medical experiences or sudden loss) as well as complex or developmental trauma linked to earlier life experiences. I also support clients experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, burnout, low self-worth, and difficulties in relationships or identity.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process distressing memories that may feel “stuck”. Many clients notice that memories become less emotionally intense, allowing them to feel calmer, more present, and better able to move forward.
My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and paced according to each person’s readiness. I place great importance on creating a safe and compassionate therapeutic space where you can explore difficult experiences without feeling overwhelmed or judged.
Before specialising in EMDR, I trained and practised as an integrative therapist drawing from person-centred, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural approaches. This background allows me to tailor EMDR preparation and stabilisation work carefully to each individual.
Alongside private practice, my professional experience includes working within clinical, forensic and organisational settings — including the criminal justice system, victim support services, and senior leaders within the corporate world. This has given me a broad understanding of how trauma, stress and identity challenges can impact people across different life contexts.
Having lived and worked internationally, I am experienced in supporting clients navigating cultural transitions, relocation, workplace pressures, and questions around belonging and identity.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
Alongside private practice, I have experience working within criminal justice and forensic mental health settings, supporting staff, victims, and individuals with complex life histories. This has deepened my understanding of trauma, shame, identity and relationship difficulties.
I have a particular interest in working with men, including issues around masculinity, emotional expression, and the impact of cultural expectations on mental health and relationships.
I also support clients who find intimacy and trust challenging due to past interpersonal trauma, helping them develop safer and more fulfilling relationships.
With a background in organisational psychology, I can help clients navigate workplace stress, burnout, leadership pressures, career transitions, and difficulties in professional relationships.
