Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

How are you feeling?

Sometimes life may seem overwhelming, confusing, and challenging. Perhaps we are unable to cope with our day-to-day lives and need to speak to someone..but who? Someone who will not judge; but listen and understand.

Are you someone who bottles things up?

Are you someone who constantly worries about what people will say and think?

Have you seen a change in your lifestyle, e.g. appetite, lack of sleep, loss of concentration and/or energy?

Are you grieving?

Would you like to learn how to manage your anger?

Do you feel lonely and isolated?

Have you been through abuse and feel scared to speak up?

Do you feel that you are unable to cope with your children's behaviour?

Do you feel depressed and/or low?

Would you like to learn ways to boost your confidence and self-esteem?

Do you suffer from generalised anxiety or social anxiety?

Do you suffer from panic attacks?

Do you suffer from post-natal depression?

Do you have suicidal thoughts?

Do you feel that you are always stressed or get stressed easily?

Are you having difficulties in your relationship?

Have you been through a traumatic experience?

Are you facing any work related stress, i.e. harassment, bullying, retirement or redundancy?

Do you feel betrayed by your loved ones?

Do you feel rejected / not accepted ?

Do you find it difficult to establish relationships ?

Or is it your child you see suffering & you feel unsure how to help them ?

Are they isolating themselves? , fear of socialising ? In fear of leaving you ? Avoiding activities ? Complaining of stomach aches , headaches ?

If you are going through any of the above than do not suffer in silence. Call me today and I will support you to understand your feelings and ways to cope with and overcome them.
