About me
I'm Denise, an Accredited UKCP Registered Psychotherapist, Advanced Hypno-Psychotherapist and qualified EMDR and Trauma therapist, offering supportive, non-judgemental and compassionate psychotherapy, Trauma therapy and hypno-psychotherapy since 1994. Working integratively, I'll use a range of techniques and therapy approaches tailored to your particular needs to help you make the changes you desire - options include Psychodynamic, CBT, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing), Gestalt Psychotherapy, Body-orientated approaches, Inner Child Work, Somatic Trauma Therapy, Mindfulness, Transactional Analysis and Affect-Centred Therapy.
My, initial, specialist training as a hypno-psychotherapist also enables me to gently, but effectively, use hypnotherapy alongside integrative psychotherapy if you wish to make use of this intervention as part of your therapy - to help facilitate and ease the process of positive change. As many issues have a subconscious or ‘unconscious’ component, working with this aspect with hypnotherapy can often enable a subtle, yet powerful, change where we may feel conflicted, blocked or overwhelmed by the problem we are facing. (If you are interested in Hypno-Psychotherapy rather than Integrative Psychotherapy, please see my entry on the Hypnotherapy Directory (link below), visit www.denisemarleyn.co.uk or email me to discuss your needs).
In addition to my expertise as an Advanced hypno-psychotherapist, my further training and experience in psychotherapy, gained over 25 years, enables me to also offer an empathetic and non-judgemental space and therapeutic ‘relationship’ where you can feel the necessary support and safety to have the time to be able to talk about, and resolve, difficult or distressing feelings or experiences which may be affecting your quality of life, well-being or relationships. I also work with personal development.
I work with adults over 18 in short, medium or long-term therapy, though predominantly my work is with clients looking for medium-long term therapy due to their therapeutic needs. Additionally, as a specialist in Trauma Therapy, I offer a trauma-informed approach to your issue. I specialise in medium-long-term therapy for complex issues such as trauma, attachment issues and PTSD including anxiety/phobias or anxiety/panic with a traumatic origin.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
