About me

Hello, I’m Debbie

I offer face to face relationship counselling to individuals, couples, adult family members and business partners in Marlborough and Swindon.

My working life has always been centred around supporting others.

This led me to train as an integrative counsellor, and I’ve had the privilege of working therapeutically with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences.

Over time, my passion for understanding relationships and the ways we connect with one another naturally led me to specialise in relationship and couples counselling.

I believe every relationship has its own story, and therapy should be shaped around the people sitting in front of me, not around a predetermined model.

My work is informed by attachment theory, an understanding of trauma and a focus on communication. I believe that understanding how our earliest experiences shape the
Relationships we build throughout our lives can create opportunities for meaningful and lasting change.

What you can expect when we work together:

  • Tailored support – because no two people or relationships are the same.
  • An integrative approach – drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches rather than following one fixed model.
  • Thoughtful exploration – helping you understand the patterns beneath recurring difficulties, not just the challenges you see on the surface.
  • A safe, non-judgemental space – where everyone has the opportunity to feel heard, understood and respected.
  • A focus on meaningful change – supporting you to strengthen communication, deepen understanding and build healthier, more fulfilling relationships.

I know that reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step. Whether you’re coming on your own or with your partner, my aim is to create a space where you feel safe enough to talk openly, without fear of judgement or criticism.

Clients often describe me as warm, calm and easy to talk to. I work collaboratively, offering both support and thoughtful challenge when it feels helpful, always at a pace that feels right for you.

I don’t believe counselling is about becoming someone different. While we can’t change what has happened to us, greater understanding can help us grow, relate differently and make choices that support healthier, more fulfilling relationships

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
