About me
I am a member of the BACP and an accredited member of the NCPS with more than 10 years of professional experience. Throughout those years, I have helped clients with relationship issues, abuse, motivation, self-esteem, and confidence. I also have experience working with anxiety and depression. I have some experience working with the aftermath of domestic abuse through volunteering with a local charity.
I value learning about my clients. I believe that you are the expert on your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming life's challenges. I am here to support you in that process. We may find that small changes can have a big impact on your life and happiness.
My training in Pluralistic Counselling means I include a range of theories, ideas, and tools in my practice, tailoring my approach to the needs of each unique client, and their situation and goals. My main aim is to ensure you are comfortable and feel safe to open up and share your story and your ambition with me so that we can have a therapeutic relationship that allows you to achieve your goals.
Whether you want to improve your mood, work your way out of depression, manage anxiety, work on your self-esteem, break a habit or addiction, make a habit, improve the way you interact with others or the world, counselling can help.
For me, the counselling process is about you and what you can do to improve things for yourself. My role in that is to create a safe environment for you to explore your thoughts and feelings, to consider options, and to experiment with change. Small changes can have a big impact.
To this end, I provide a relaxed environment where you are free to bring whatever is important to you to each session. We then explore your thoughts, feelings, needs, and desires, working towards your goals, even if sometimes you cannot yet put them into words.
My training and experience enable me to help you by providing ideas and concepts that you may not yet be aware of and bringing tools and interventions that you may find useful. My training has been in both integrative and pluralistic approaches. Both of these approaches take the view that there is not a "one size fits all" solution and that the counselling can be tailored to fit the client. So, I look at many concepts and work with you to find the ideas and tools that make sense to you.
In addition to working with individuals, I occasionally work with couples, providing a safe place in which they can explore their relationship and their communication. For this purpose, a couple is any two adults wanting to discuss their relationship, not necessarily a romantic relationship. This counselling is not invested in any particular outcome and explores the needs of both parties involved.
Counselling is a very personal process and it is important that you find the right person to work with at the right time.
Please contact me by text or email if you have any questions or would like to arrange a brief telephone appointment to talk through how we may be able to work together.
Training, qualifications & experience
I initially trained as a counsellor over ten years ago, achieving a Level 4 diploma. More recently I have achieved the next step up, a Level 5 diploma. The latter course has enabled me to become an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society.
Over the last ten years, in addition to working in private practice, I have volunteered at a charity working with domestic abuse survivors, as well as a charity that offers affordable counselling to all.

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society
This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations.
In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
