About me
Are you tired of holding it all together, feeling overwhelmed or in burnout? You might be adjusting to a neurodivergent diagnosis, considering pursuing one or perhaps wanting to explore your identity. You might be a parent of neurodivergent children and are feeling exhausted from juggling everything. Whether you are autistic, ADHD, suffer with anxiety, have chronic pain, or just feel different in some way, you are welcome here. As a BACP-registered therapist, I offer a neurodiversity-affirming space, where together, we can work on managing overwhelm, building self-understanding and finding strategies that suit your life. You deserve to feel heard and supported as you navigate the world. Perhaps have come to a point in your life where you wish to break free from constraints. I have been there too and that's why I chose to call my private practice Unboxed Counselling.
Training, qualifications & experience
I discovered that I am autistic at the age of 40. I am also a mum to a neurodivergent child, so I understand some of the challenges that can bring, including applying and appealing for an EHCP.
I am a qualified counsellor with a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and I am currently studying for an MSc in Applied Psychology. I have experience of working with a range of clients including young people and adults on common mental health problems, such as anxiety, stress and coping with change. I have a particular interest in working with autistic and otherwise neurodivergent clients and people with chronic health issues.
I regularly update my skills via supervision and training.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I work predominantly online, so I am able to see you from anywhere in the UK. I do also have some availability for in-person sessions in Stevenage.
If you would like to have an informal chat with me before deciding to work with me, please get in touch to arrange a free 15 minute introduction. This can take place over the phone or by video call, depending on your preference and it gives us both the opportunity to get acquainted and to see if I can meet your needs.
If we then proceed to work together, our first session will be about getting to know each other and exploring what has brought you to counselling. There's no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with and I will work at your pace. We can discuss your sensory preferences (for example, whether you need breaks, or any adjustments to lighting) and talk about your goals for therapy. If you wish to continue beyond the first session, we can set up a regular session time, which would usually be weekly but we can discuss what works best for you. I happy to see clients on a bi-weekly or ad hoc basis.
If you are willing to try some creative tools during our sessions, I may suggest something such as a simple drawing or object placement. In my experience, using creativity in therapy can put us in touch with areas of ourselves that sometimes words on their own may struggle to do. I am not an art therapist, but I have experience of working creatively with clients.
