About me

Hi, I’m Deb — a qualified counsellor supporting adults, teenagers, young people, and children, both in Chelmsford and online across the UK.

Life can feel overwhelming at times — whether it’s anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship difficulties, school or work pressures, life transitions or questions about who you are and where you fit in. I offer a calm, supportive space where you can talk openly, be heard, and make sense of your thoughts and feelings. You don’t need to have everything figured out — counselling is a place to explore, understand, and build confidence in yourself.

How I Work
Sessions move at your pace. Some people prefer to talk, while others find creative approaches more helpful, especially when feelings are hard to express. Together, we find an approach that feels right for you, your child, or your young person.

I aim to provide an affirming, inclusive space for everyone — including LGBTQ+ individuals, neurodivergent people (such as those with ADHD or autism), and people from diverse backgrounds.

Counselling for Adults
I support adults with anxiety, stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, identity exploration, ADHD, and other neurodivergent experiences. I work with people facing life changes, including work pressures or burnout, relationship or health challenges, caring roles, and periods of transition or uncertainty.

Counselling offers a confidential space to reflect, gain perspective, and develop coping strategies for everyday life. You don’t need a formal diagnosis to benefit from therapy.

Counselling for Teenagers & Young People
If you’re a teenager or young adult, counselling can help when things feel stressful, overwhelming, or hard to talk about. You might not know exactly what’s wrong — just that something doesn’t feel right.

I support young people with challenges such as friendships and family relationships, school or exam stress, anxiety, low confidence, overthinking, and exploring identity or a sense of where you belong. This can include gender, sexuality, sense of self, and neurodivergent experiences such as ADHD, autism, or sensory differences.

Counselling is your space. You don’t need a big reason to come — if something’s on your mind, that’s enough. We work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Counselling for Children
Counselling can help children when emotions feel big, confusing, or difficult to express. I support children experiencing anxiety and worries, friendship difficulties, low mood, behavioural changes, and differences in attention, learning, or sensory processing. I also work with children who are feeling overwhelmed or facing changes at home or school.

When working with children, I use play and creative approaches to help them express their feelings in a safe, age-appropriate way. Sessions move at the child’s pace, with their well-being always at the centre.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
