Dawn Smith - Dip. Couns, Reg MBACP
Are you struggling to cope with life right now? Feeling sad, anxious or alone? Perhaps you find yourself wondering - ‘What is wrong with me?’, ‘Why am I like this?’ or ‘Will I ever feel happy again?’
In therapy, I work with you to explore and understand your emotions more fully, increase your self-awareness, and support you to consider the changes you may wish to make in your life.
If you’re looking at this page, chances are you’re already thinking about what those changes might be and considering taking the next step of seeing a counsellor. However, I know how daunting that next step may feel, so let me tell you a little bit more about how I work.
I am an Integrative Counsellor – meaning I ‘integrate’, or bring together, a variety of different therapeutic techniques and approaches to fit the individual needs of each client. That’s kind of a fancy way of saying I don’t believe in a ‘one size fits all’ approach to therapy. Integrative counselling acknowledges we are all unique, and that what’s helpful for one client, might not necessarily be for another. I work collaboratively with you to explore and discover what feels most effective for you.
Based in bright, comfortable therapy rooms five-minutes from Clapham Junction, weekly 50-minute counselling sessions are available on either a short or long-term basis. Typically, after an initial telephone or email conversation, I offer clients an introductory consultation where we can discuss what it is that brings you to counselling now and what you may wish to achieve. You can then decide if you wish to proceed in therapy with me.
