About me
Hi, I’m David, a Counselling Psychologist. I offer a supportive and respectful space where we can work together to overcome the challenges you’re facing. I help adults, teens, couples, and families using therapies tailored to their needs. I have over six years of experience in third-sector organisations and the NHS. I have helped clients navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, chronic pain, trauma, bereavement, cancer, addiction, suicidal thoughts, and gender identity issues. My approach focuses on building a trusting therapeutic relationship. I’m committed to creating a respectful, affirming space. With both professional expertise and a personal understanding of the challenges faced by transgender young adults and their families, I offer affirmative therapy, as well as gender dysphoria assessments and diagnoses, aligned with the latest standards of care set by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH).
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a doctorate in counselling psychology and degrees in biology and psychology. As a Counselling Psychologist, I am registered with the HCPC and BPS. I have gained many years of life experience as a professional musician and creative professional. I am passionate about using my creativity and empathy to connect with my clients.
I have supported clients through a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, chronic pain, complex trauma, bereavement, cancer, addiction, suicidal ideation, and gender identity issues. My approach integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Polyvagal Theory.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
