About me
Hello,
My name is David Beeney.
I am a very experienced person-centred counsellor who has been helping people of all ages and genders to lead a happier more fulfilling life for many years.
Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or simply seeking greater clarity and fulfilment in life, I'm here to offer a safe and supportive space for you to explore, grow, and thrive.
My approach to counselling is rooted in empathy, authenticity, and respect for everyone’s unique experiences and strengths.
What is person-centred therapy? I believe the answers to a better life lay hidden within you. By creating a warm, safe, non-judgemental and empathic relationship I can help you to explore your thoughts, feelings and aspirations. Our therapeutic relationship will help you to discover the ‘real you’ and should give you much more hope and confidence about your future.
If you have never been to counselling before I am very good at putting people at ease in that first session. Most of my sessions are on Teams but when required I will meet you in-person if that is your preference.
Many people will not attend counselling because of the perceived stigma of having ‘mental health therapy’. My modality of counselling is very similar to coaching so if it helps, please regard me as your ‘mentor’ or ‘life-coach’.
You will note from my website, I also help businesses to create cultures in their workplaces where all employees can feel safe to talk without fear about their mental health. I do this alongside my one-to-one private counselling.
I offer a free 30-minute introductory chat if you would like to see if I am potentially the right person for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and have many years of experience.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
