About me

Hello, thank you for taking the time to read my profile.

I offer solution and resolution focused couples therapy.

Are you struggling with anxiety, trauma, loss, relationship and/or neurodivergent related issues?

Are you looking for new ways to deepen your understanding of who you are, and why you do the things you do?

Would you like to learn new tools to make long lasting change, to transform your relationship with both yourself and others, and unlock your potential?

Your mental health matters! I am here to offer the professional support you need, when, how, where, and in the way that you need it.

My therapeutic style is friendly, caring, candid, and direct. I draw on many different schools of theory and life experience.  I offer a holistic, experiential, mindful,  transpersonal, and reflective approach to counselling. Exploring the here and now, the influence of your past, what is hidden from you, and the control of your subconscious.

I respect, empathise with, and understand the courage it takes to seek help in our darkest most painful moments. How vulnerable and down you may feel,  perhaps extremely anxious, lost, misunderstood, not seen, not heard, betrayed, or worthless.

As a man in his 60's who has at times had his own struggles with mental health, I understand and can empathise with the reluctance to seek help. Men are often conditioned as young boys to be strong, that weakness is a failure. I have learnt that the real courage is in our vulnerability.

I am experienced working with all genders. At the heart of my way of working is compassion, non-judgement, honesty, and candour. I pride myself on my ability to build and maintain deep, empathic, open, authentic, reliable and trusting relationships with my clients.

I offer solution focused counselling, therapy, and coaching. What that means in plain English is that counselling with me is focused and tailored for achieving your desired change.

As a qualified therapeutic counsellor, trained couples and relationship therapist, and mindfulness teacher my specialist areas of interest are the present moment, innovative tools for symptom reduction, long term effective and easy to implement solutions.

My areas of expertise are anxiety, loss, bereavement, grief, men's mental health, and couples and relationships.

My approach to counselling draws on many different aspects of theory and experience. I offer new ways of thinking, strategies, and reflections on how to calm anxiety, heal from loss, make a long lasting change, resolve conflicts, repair ruptures, recapture intimacy, revitalise the erotic, and build a compelling future.

You will find me empathic to your problems, trustworthy, fair, and candid. I value each client as a unique person and I look forward to meeting and working with you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Additional information

My fees are designed to be fair, reasonable, and accessible. I offer discounts if you book your sessions as a block.

If you are working with me for couples counselling, please bear in mind when considering whether to work with me that my sessions are 1 1/2 hours rather than 50 minutes, and that my sessions are fortnightly as opposed to weekly. Longer sessions fortnightly allows more time and space for discovery and reflection. More time for new strategies and thinking to embed themselves in your relationship, and test what does and doesn't work for you.
