About me
Are you looking for a compassionate and experienced Psychotherapist in the South Manchester area?
Perhaps you'd like to feel calmer, more accepting of yourself and build confidence and develop new skills?
Maybe you'd like to have more rewarding relationships with others, learn to say No and set boundaries or even make peace with your past?
I work with people to move toward developing better relationships with both themselves and with others. I can work with you to explore your past, your feelings, thoughts, attitudes and behaviors and how they inform and influence the present. In doing this we can work together toward you finding new and positive ways of being in the world and building the life that you want to live.
Hi, my name's Damien and I'm a BACP registered psychotherapist with over twelve years experience working in private practice. I abide by the BACP Ethical Framework as well as attend monthly supervision. This enables me to provide responsible and effective work as a therapist.
I offer one to one Psychotherapy and Counselling in South Manchester, Heaton Moor Stockport. I offer in person sessions and also online via Zoom.
The core of my training has been in Transactional Analysis and I also have an interest in a wide range of Humanistic and relational focused therapies
Training, qualifications & experience
My training began at the Manchester institute for Psychotherapy where I completed 4 years of training in Transactional Analysis . I later completed further in- depth training and development, in Transactional Analysis, at the South Manchester Centre for Psychotherapy where I achieved an Advanced Diploma Award in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.
My experience as a therapist has given me a privileged opportunity to work with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds. I have and continue to enjoy, and take pride in, supporting people to make positive changes.
Alongside my academic pursuits I have devoted the past 18 years of my career to working with Adults with severe and enduring mental health needs and adults with Autism and Learning disabilities.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
