About me
Hello, I’m Craig and I’m an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist offering remote counselling via video, telephone and in-person sessions. I work with adults who are feeling overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or unsure how to make sense of what they are carrying. This may include anxiety, low mood, grief, trauma, identity questions, relationship difficulties, or just a sense that something in their life doesn’t feel right.
Often, clients arrive unsure about where to begin, or worried they won’t be able to explain things clearly. My role is to offer a steady, compassionate space where we can gently explore what’s going on, at your pace, and without pressure to “get it right”.
I also bring experience from working within NHS Primary Care Mental Health services, which has shaped my approach to supporting people through distress, uncertainty, and emotional complexity. I am described by my clients as calm, thoughtful and impactful.
How I work
I draw on person-centred, psychodynamic, cognitive, and behavioural approaches. At the heart of my work is a compassion-focused therapeutic approach. This means paying attention not only to what you are feeling, but how you relate to yourself when those feelings arise.
So many people are used to pushing through. They are self-critical, or feeling they should be coping better. Compassion-focused therapy helps create a different internal relationship, one that is more understanding, steady, and supportive. Over time, this can help reduce shame, ease emotional overwhelm, and build a sense of inner safety and resilience.
Many of the people I work with have experienced trauma, whether from earlier life experiences, relationships, or more recent events. My approach is trauma-informed and paced, with an emphasis on safety, choice, and helping your nervous system settle, so change can happen gently without pressure to revisit anything before you feel ready, allowing understanding and regulation to develop alongside compassion.
The therapeutic relationship is central to how I work. I aim to offer a space that feels calm, respectful, and non-judgemental, where you can speak openly and feel genuinely heard. Clients often describe me as grounding and reassuring, and many say sessions help them slow down, breathe more easily, and feel less alone with what they are facing.
Where it feels helpful, I may gently introduce ideas or tools to support emotional regulation, self-awareness, and coping. These are always collaborative, and there is no expectation to take on anything that doesn’t feel right for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold an MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Bangor University, awarded with Distinction, and I am a registered and accredited counsellor and psychotherapist with the NCPS. I trained as an integrative therapist, drawing on person-centred, psychodynamic, cognitive, and behavioural approaches.
I have worked within NHS Primary Care Mental Health services, supporting adults presenting with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties.
More recently, my clinical work has focused on supporting young people who have experienced complex trauma, including harmful sexual behaviours, within robust safeguarding and legal frameworks. This work requires careful risk assessment, clear boundaries, and a compassionate, non-judgemental stance.
Alongside my clinical training, I previously studied Environmental Psychology. This continues to influence how I think about the relationship between our inner worlds and the environments we live and work within.
A little more about me
My work and life experience have been shaped by living and working internationally, including time spent in Venezuela, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vancouver as well as travelling through Southeast Asia. These experiences have given me a deep respect for difference and an understanding of how culture, environment, and relationships influence how we experience ourselves and others.
Earlier in my career, I worked in an international school supporting children with mild learning difficulties, and later within an architecture practice in Vancouver, applying principles of environmental psychology to understand how physical spaces affect wellbeing.
Outside of work, I appreciate time outdoors, particularly hiking and paddleboarding. I have also volunteered at the Paralympic Games in Rio 2016 and PyeongChang 2018, experiences that reinforced my belief in resilience, dignity, and the strength people carry through adversity.
I am LGBTQ+ affirmative and welcome people from all backgrounds and identities. You do not need to come to therapy to talk about identity specifically, but you are welcome to bring your whole self into the space.
I value ethical practice, clear boundaries, and working with care and integrity. For me, therapy is not just about fixing or creating change, but about understanding, softening self-judgement, and finding steadier ways to move forward.

Free introductory call
I offer a free 20-minute introductory call to help you decide whether working together feels right for you.
This call is a relaxed, informal conversation rather than a therapy session. It’s a chance for you to share a little about what’s bringing you to counselling, ask any questions and get a sense of how I work. There’s no pressure to commit, and no expectation to go into detail if you don’t want to.
Choosing a therapist can feel like a big step, especially if you’re already feeling vulnerable or unsure. I see this the first call as a gentle starting point, a way to check whether the space feels safe, supportive, and suitable for you.
If we decide to work together, we can then think about what you might need from therapy and how we could approach it. If not, I’m still happy to help you think about other options.
