About me
Hi, I’m Courtney McTaggart, a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with a Diploma in CBT and a COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills from The Glasgow Cognitive Therapy Centre.
I primarily use CBT to explore how thoughts and behaviours impact emotions, integrating elements of Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
My own mental health journey inspired me to become a therapist and I strive to offer the support I wish I had during my teenage years. I bring warmth, energy, and a positive perspective to therapy, making the process feel approachable.
I work mainly with young people aged 16+, but my services are open to all. My ideal client is someone seeking guidance and confidence to make meaningful life changes.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Diploma in CBT and a COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills from The Glasgow Cognitive Therapy Centre. As part of my CBT training, I have also studied third wave approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). These approaches integrate mindfulness, self-compassion, and values-based work, offering clients a more holistic and person-centred way to create meaningful change.
I also worth with Megan's Space, a young person's charity based in Ayrshire, who provide regular training and skills sharing of a wide range of therapies including TFT & Havening
- Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from The Glasgow Cognitive Therapy Centre

- I have experience using Havening Technique, TFT, HeartMath, and coaching skills, which I integrate alongside my formal CBT training to enhance the therapeutic process and tailor sessions to each individual client.
