About me
I am an integrative psychotherapist working relationally with a blend of psychodynamic, existential and person-centred therapy, so I will hear from you and we will work together to examine how your world is making sense to you and what or where you might want to make changes. We may look at your past, your culture, your friendships and relationships, and by exploring things in a collaborative way in therapy, we will hopefully create some understanding where things might feel complicated. Often when situations become stressful, there are existing patterns which re-emerge and we can look at these to find where they may have stemmed from. Together, we can also look at ways of coping with high pressure environments, wherever they may come into your life. Hopefully, the experience of sharing in therapy will make things feel more manageable for you. I am in no way an expert on your life but I can be here to support and guide you where it might feel that there are knots to unpick.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a PGCIP and MA in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling from Regent's University, and clinical work experience through my private practice, low cost therapy charities and schools.
I have voluntary experience with a family charity and experience of bereavement counselling.
I originally graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with a BMus (Hons) and worked as a professional musician and then in broadcast and print journalism. I bring my experience and understanding of the performing arts industries, high pressure and competitive environments to my work.
I have two teenage daughters and understand some of the complexities of family life, relationships and bereavements. I have a particular interest in helping people cope with transitional phases of their life.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
