About me

Hello,

With over 25 years of experience as a Psychotherapist I use a blend of tools and techniques to identify and process repeating patterns that often sabotage my clients' wellbeing. They can turn up as anxiety and overwhelm, depressive episodes and many physical and mental health conditions.

There is no 'one size fits all' in this work. People's stories and life experiences are wholly unique and deserve close attention, as within every story are the themes or clues to what is trying to find healing and growth.

While it is important to have our stories heard and our perspectives validated, it is also part of the therapeutic process to disentangle and unstick ourselves from narratives that trap us in negative cycles.

That is why I believe in working actively with the conscious as well as sub-conscious aspects to my clients' lives. Many of our habits, traumas and 'programming' run deep and make themselves known when we are aware of asking ourselves: 'Why does this/that always happen to me?' or 'Why do I always land up alone/cheated on/overlooked for the promotion etc?'.

As Carl Jung said: 'Until we make the Unconscious conscious, it will continue to direct our lives and we will call it Fate'.

Psychotherapy can be one of the most rewarding journeys you could ever embark on. I would love to help you to find your feet again and for you to move towards a better future.

Why not book in a Free, half hour 'Affinity Call' so that you can ask me any questions you may have before deciding whether you think we would be a good fit?

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a member of the BACP and follow their Codes of Conduct and Ethical framework, so that my clients can feel safe and supported as we work together.

I have a Post-Graduate Diploma in Transpersonal Psychotherapy (5-year study finished 1997), which is also Person-Centred and has at its heart, Jungian based psychology together with an eclectic base of classic therapeutic models, all of which allow me to tailor my practice to every individual's needs.

There is always more to discover about the Mind-Body connection within psychotherapy and so, together with my Continual Professional Development (CPD) studies, I am also trained to an Advanced Level in Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Matrix Reimprinting. These are highly effective ways of working with the sub-conscious mind, to process and reframe outmoded patterns of thinking. This can help to move my clients out of their chronic stress responses into a more resourceful state of body and mind.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

For the past 10 years, I have been the lead counsellor at a London University, working with hundreds of students from a wide background of culture, neuro-diversity, life trauma, overwhelm, anxiety and depression and many other mental health conditions.

Higher Education, living away from home, juggling coursework, part-time jobs and making friends can really take its toll on students' mental health.

Stress, isolation, anxiety and depression together with being subject to incidences happening outside of their studies can mean that they may need additional support.

If you are a concerned parent or connected to a student in Higher Education or are a student yourself and are struggling, please get in touch.
