About me
Counselling/Psychotherapy are "talking therapies" which encompass many different approaches and techniques that are designed to help people make positive changes in their lives.
People often refer to counselling and psychotherapy for a wide range of reasons including relationship difficulties, bereavement, anxiety, low self esteem, stress, addictions, depression or to resolve past or present issues which may be impacting on their lives.
The aim of my work with clients is to support them to reconnect, strengthen and heal themselves using Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy which can be modified and used in many different ways depending on the clients individual needs.
I trained extensively for 4 years in clinical psychotherapy at the Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy and became clinically endorsed in 2008.
After becoming endorsed I worked privately and voluntary at the Manchester Institute with a wide variety of clients.
My areas of interest and experience include working with abuse, trauma, relationship problems, childhood issues, depression, low self esteem, panic attacks, stress, anger management and female issues e.g miscarriage/termination/post natal depression.
I run a private practice in Stockport which is conveniently located within walking distance from the train station and major bus routes.
I offer a confidential, supportive and caring enviroment for individuals and couples to work through their difficulties. I am committed to providing a high quality professional counselling and psychotherapy service.
I offer an initial 30 minute free session, this enables you to make contact, discuss what you would like work on in therapy and decide if I'm the therapist for you.
I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and adhere to their ethical framework and guidelines.
I am fully and comprehensively insured with the Psychologists Protection society.
I subscribe to the government DBS service which is current and up to date.
I am dedicated to on going training and currently studying at Chester university towards a Masters degree.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
