About me

My own experiences of living with anxiety and depression allows me to be able to relate to how you might be suffering, counselling enabled me to build self awareness and better strategies to cope with daily life. I can help you do this too.

Whatever you're going through, we can explore together the best way for you to move forward.

I hold a Diploma in Integrative Counselling from a BACP accredited college.

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy), the largest professional body for counsellors and psychotherapists in the UK. My practice complies with the BACP’s stringent ethical and professional guidelines. I have full DBS (CRB) certification, professional indemnity insurance and clinical supervision.

I have a dedicated therapy room at my home near Dartford in Kent, as well as offering outdoor, garden based therapy in a picturesque and peaceful setting.

In addition to my private practice I also work for a community mental health provider where I work with clients who have long term severe mental illness. I also have experience working as an independent mental health advocate and occupational therapy.

I offer an initial telephone assessment session free of charge for new/prospective clients. Please contact me to arrange this.

I can help clients with a broad range of issues but I have particular experience in the areas below:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Self-esteem issues
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Family issues
  • Anger
  • Loss/bereavement
  • Trauma
  • Abuse

Through my personal and professional experience, I feel I can build a trusting relationship focussing on a person-centred approach, tailored to empower the individual. I use an integrative approach in my counselling which means I use a some or all of the humanistic, psychodynamic, cognitive, and existential models to be most effective for my clients.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at Inter-psyche Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Services, which is part of Kent and Medway NHS Trust, through my training I have gained the following qualifications.

  • Diploma in integrative counselling
  • Certificate in counselling skills

As part of my training, I gained experience working as part of the team at North Kent Mind as a low-cost volunteer counsellor.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
