About me

I am an integrative counsellor working in person in Edinburgh and online nationwide with adults, children and offering parental consultations. Whether in person or online we will work together to build a warm, safe and confidential space for you to address your present concerns. Alongside my private practise I have worked with charities, schools and nurseries.

I have experience of working with a wide range of presentations including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, family separation, grief, loss, bullying, refugee status, neurodiversity, the impact of the menstrual cycle on mental health, agoraphobia, work stress, self-harm and low self-esteem.

With children I can work with those from the age of 3 in person and from the age of 11 online. I offer art and play therapy alongside talking therapy to help us look at the underlying cause of an issue or to see something in a new light. Sand therapy and therapeutic stories are also available for working with younger children. For children under 10 and those who struggle to leave their home there is the option where suitable that i work with them from their home.

For teenagers the years into early adulthood are a time of constant transition where feelings of loss, fear, being stuck, confusion and general worry for the future are all common. Counselling can help them navigate this time and feel more confident in the decisions they make.

Single Session Therapy is available for 13-25-year-olds where there's a main primary concern. Single Session Therapy can help reframe a life event, orient a client towards better coping strategies, and formulate a plan for any changes they want to make or boundaries they want to draw whether in their relationships, work, university or school. Targeted support and psychoeducation here draw on both counselling and coaching techniques.

Joint parent and child sessions are available to strengthen your relationship and help you support your child with their worries. Individual parental consultations are available whether or not your child is being seen for therapy to support you with life at home. If you are unsure an assessment session can help decide whether your child may best benefit from individual or joint sessions.

I am also a qualified Health and Nutrition Coach and Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner. Where appropriate somatic and whole body work can be incorporated. This can be particularly useful with hormone imbalance and PMS or PMDD.

CBT-I is the NICE recommended form of treatment for insomnia and is a 4 session model that can treat both short term and chronic insomnia. For more information on this please see my website.

Sessions are most commonly weekly however we can move towards working fortnightly if this best suits your needs.

I am a registered member of BACP and follow their procedures regarding supervision, professional development, complaints, and their ethical framework to ensure that safety and welfare are embedded in my practice.

More information about the way I work is available on my website, I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
