About me

If you find yourself getting stuck on certain topics, going around in circles in your head, or lying awake at night when the distractions fade and your thoughts take over,  you're not alone, and there is a way forward.

As someone who has travelled both literally and metaphorically through life's challenges, I understand the courage it takes to seek support. My own journey from engineering to counselling has taken me from the Netherlands through several countries before settling in Scotland, where I now practice in Edinburgh. Along the way, I've learned multiple languages and, more importantly, learned to speak the language of healing through my own therapeutic experience.

Having walked the path of therapy myself, I know firsthand how it can help break those exhausting cycles of stuck thinking. I've experienced the relief of finally finding a way out of mental loops that once felt inescapable.

I create a therapeutic environment that is safe enough to explore potentially challenging topics, yet challenging enough to allow for genuine growth. Drawing on person-centred and psychodynamic principles, I don't just observe your journey – I come along with you, offering support as you navigate whatever terrain lies ahead.

Whether you're dealing with recurring thoughts that won't quiet, feeling trapped in familiar patterns, or simply seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, I'm here to walk alongside you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Edinburgh.

Before I found my calling in counselling and psychotherapy, I worked as an electronic engineer with an undergarduate degree from Windesheim University in The Netherlands

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
