About me

I work with adults who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck or struggling with past or present challenges. I provide clients with a safe and supportive space to explore thoughts and feelings without judgement, at their own pace and in their own way.

I can offer face to face, online or telephone counselling.

I have experience working with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, past and present trauma/abuse, chronic illness, child abuse, self-harm or navigating loss.

I offer a free 20-minute consultation for us to explore your needs and see whether I am the right fit to support you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified counsellor having trained with the Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body to a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

I bring experience from counselling within a domestic abuse charity and in an all-purpose counselling agency. This has enabled me to support clients presenting a wide range of emotional difficulties, whilst developing particular skills in supporting individuals affected by trauma and abuse. Through this work I have become adept at providing a safe, empathic and empowering space for clients to explore their experiences and needs.

I have attended additional training in Trauma & PTSD, Complex PTSD and training in understanding and preventing burnout, compassion fatigue and secondary trauma. I have also trained in awareness of domestic abuse, self-harm and safeguarding.

I have extensive previous experience working within the emergency services and this insight deepens my understanding and connection with clients employed in these areas.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

NCPS
National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS)

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I hold a Level 3 Diploma (NCFE) in integrative counselling combining elements of person-centred foundation with elements of CBT theory and Psychodynamic theory.

I am an IEMT (Integral Eye Movement Therapy) qualified practitioner. This 'change' therapy can be used as standalone therapy or  incorporated  into your counselling sessions with clients.

IEMT is a gentle yet powerful approach that helps people shift how they feel about troubling memories, patterns, or emotional states. It works by using guided eye movements to support the brain in processing stuck or overwhelming experiences, often without needing to talk in detail about the past.

This technique can be especially helpful for those dealing with anxiety, shame, guilt, trauma, or persistent emotional responses which feel out of proportion or hard to shake. IEMT reduces the emotional intensity of memories and the attachment to them, helping you feel more grounded, present and in control.

Please contact me to find out more about my therapy.
