About me
Having made the decision to find a counsellor I would offer you an initial session to discuss what brings you to counselling, what you hope to achieve from our time together; to answer any questions you may have about how I work and for us to decide on whether we feel comfortable working together.
Trained in the 'integrative' approach I see the quality of our relationship is of central importance. Although intrinsically person-centred I may draw from other perspectives and techniques such as transactional analysis, gestalt therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, solution-focused therapy and psychodynamic theory. I aim to be responsive and respectful towards you and your concerns; recognising that no two people's experiences and their responses to them are the same.
I aim to be genuine, sensitive, and respectful. Whilst I recognise there is pain in life, I also value and hold onto the principle of hope. At times, I may challenge you with care and consideration, and I am open to being challenged by you as well. If appropriate and with your agreement, I might give you 'homework' between sessions, but it won't be the essay type!
I would get a greater understanding of you so that you might better hear or see yourself and how others experience you. We may or may not spend a significant amount of time looking at your childhood; this would simply be influenced by what arises and its relevance to you and the present.
I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor and experienced in working with people from varying cultural backgrounds with a range of issues e.g. anxiety, depression, work-related stress, relationship problems, bereavement and sexuality amongst others. In the past, I have volunteered for a London borough carer's organisation, an adult education college and a community-based service for clients presenting with a wide range of issues. I also have extensive experience of working with young people (aged 16 plus) in educational settings as well as working with adults of all ages.
You can contact me directly on 07754 026325 if you would like to discuss your needs further.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
