About me

Hello, my name is Clare. I am a qualified Counsellor and Creative Psychotherapist based in the L12 area of Liverpool. As a person-centred therapist I believe that there is no-one more experienced to know you than yourself, it’s just at times we become so overwhelmed we feel stuck. We will work at your pace, and I aim to use my skills to support you whilst you reflect upon life experiences, explore your feelings, and make any changes to enhance your mental wellbeing and ultimately the way you live.

To share a bit of my personal background and how I became a therapist: my journey began when past life challenges left me feeling completely disconnected from myself. I was so focused on making everyone else happy that when my own struggles hit, I felt so overwhelmed I struggled to cope. Going to therapy was my turning point. It might sound cliché, but it set me on a path of self-discovery that completely changed my life—and led me to retrain as a psychotherapist. I absolutely love my job now. I’m incredibly passionate about breaking down the stigma around mental health because I believe that looking after your mind impacts physical health and overall wellbeing. I can offer you support to overcome any obstacles that may be in your way and help you unravel any messiness inside your head to clear the way for you to move forward with resilience and a greater sense of self.

Sometimes in therapy, it can be hard to find the right words to describe how we are truly feeling. Combining a creative approach with talking therapy reduces the pressure to find exact words, helping you access deeper feelings that can be difficult to release. My early background in the creative arts and my training as a Creative Psychotherapist mean I can offer you the option to use creative methods—such as art therapy, sand tray work, and creative writing—in our sessions.

I also specialize in working with children and young people (CYP). I believe that nurturing good mental health and building healthy coping strategies early in life gives young people the vital tools they need to grow, adapt, and thrive.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
