About me

Are you feeling anxious, stuck or depressed?  I will help you to relax and unravel your worries and concerns.  My background as a teacher of yoga and my humanistic counselling approach means I work compassionately with you the whole of you, as a unique individual. I can help you explore and understand your mind's diverse thoughts and your body's complexity of feelings. Together we can work through your anxiety and its causes and effects, and I can support you with many issues, including relationship problems, abuse, low self-esteem, grief, bereavement, the menopause and women's issues.

Please email me, or book in a free fifteen minute call with me now to get to know one another.

You can choose which therapy space is most convenient for you:

  • my dedicated garden therapy room near the seafront in Hove,
  • at the Wilbury clinic in central Hove,
  • or online.

Training, qualifications & experience

As a BACP member, I qualified after four years of training, and hold:

  • Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy Postgraduate Diploma (distinction) at the University of Brighton

My humanistic approach mixes person-centred empathic listening and existential philosophy, and I have a special interest in anxiety.

Besides practising privately I've worked for two years as a counsellor for Macmillan Cancer care, giving patients and their partners support around living with cancer.   I've also worked for two years as a Samaritan and can support you through suicidal feelings.

My certificate in yoga is from the Yoga Alliance and I hold a diploma in meditation teaching from Skilful Minds.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
