About me

My name is Claire and I'm an integrative counsellor with experience in a range of concerns such as low self esteem, anxiety, trauma, sexual abuse and domestic abuse, and some neurological conditions including Bipolar disorder, ADHD, FND and schizoaffective disorder. I have worked with an age range of 18 through to 89 years. Through personal experience I have knowledge of brain injuries and understand the challenges of recovery for both the survivor and those close to them.

I value your uniqueness and so I tailor sessions to suit your personal needs, drawing upon a variety of theoretical modalities including cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness and psychodynamic. At the heart of my work is a person centred approach of empathy and person to person unconditional positive regard. I came into counselling having come through a series of personal issues of my own and believe every human deserves the right to be heard, supported and held in a compassionate safe place.

Through the power of therapy we can journey together through whatever may be negatively impacting your quality of life, untangling thoughts, fears, and past and present experiences. With gentle guidance, understanding and connection, I believe every person holds within them the power to discover their full potential and to achieve a harmonious self relationship. It's an honour and a privilege to accompany my clients on their journey of self exploration and development and I look forward to welcoming you.

A little about me...

I was born in Somerset and have lived here for most of my life. In 2010 I spent 5 months teaching on a voluntary basis in Eswatini and also spent 2 years living and working in Cape Town, South Africa. I have also spent some time working in Central London and worked as a long term live in carer in Cornwall and Devon.

I have a 5 year old son, a Jack Russell and a Springer Spaniel. I enjoy walking, reading, exploring new places and have a love of history and culture.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

There is no minimum time or limit to how long you require counselling. You are the expert in knowing your needs and I will work alongside with you at your own pace. Equally, there is no check list of reasons for seeking professional support. If something in your life is unsettling you, no matter how "small" or "insignificant" you feel it might be, it's a big enough reason to reach out. Please don't suffer alone.

In person counselling is held at either Nine Springs Natural Health Centre in Yeovil, or Chard Natural Health Centre.

I also offer online counselling via Zoom and telephone counselling.
