About me

I understand how hard it is to choose the right therapist for you. The decision to reach out for help and seek therapy can be tough enough. Sometimes we face struggles in life that leave us feeling stuck or overwhelmed and we need help finding our way through. I aim to offer you a confidential, warm, and safe space to explore your reasons for seeking therapy.

I am a fully qualified and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist, my private practice is based in Newark and Grantham. As a Humanistic and Integrative Therapist, I work relationally with the uniqueness of the human experience. The service I provide will give you the opportunity to develop better insight into yourself and any difficulties you may be facing right now. Offering non-judgemental support. I have worked with a diverse range of clients with a wide range of presenting issues, from anxiety, depression and trauma, to neurodiversity and LGBTQIA+ related issues. I truly value the difference and diversity in all of my clients.

I offer a free informal 15 minute chat over the phone, to answer any questions you may have about therapy or the service I can offer. This is often a good chance to get a feel for whether I would be a good fit for you as your therapist and if you wish for us to work together, then we can book a face-to-face session from there.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a first class BSc (Hons) degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Achieved through the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute, awarded by Staffordshire University and accredited by the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).

I am a full member of the BACP and adhere to their ethical framework for good practice.

I hold full professional indemnity insurance.

I have experience working in different establishments including a sixth form college working with young people aged 16-18, where I gained particular experience working with LGBTQIA+ related issues and neurodivergence such as autism and ADHD. I have also worked within a sexual abuse charity, working with adults around rape, sexual assault, shame and trauma related issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
