About me

At the very heart of successful therapy sits the relationship between therapist and client. It is important to feel heard and understood by your therapist, and to feel safe, comfortable and respected at all times. There is no one therapist that is good for everyone. Please take your time to find the right therapist for you. I love the work I do and look forward to speaking to you if you feel I could be the right therapist for you.

Thank you so much for taking the time to learn a little bit about me and my therapy approach. I am a fully qualified and registered psychotherapist and counsellor with 4 years of experience supporting a diverse range of clients through life's challenges. My approach is always compassionate, non-judgemental and empathetic.

I specialise in helping clients navigate low mood and depression, relationship issues, challenges around neurodiversity, stress, grief and life transitions. So whether you are feeling stuck or overwhelmed, or simply need someone to talk to, I am here to listen and support you.

My approach is warm and collaborative drawing mainly from psychodynamic psychotherapy. Psychodynamic psychotherapy work helps you to understand more of what you are feeling now, why you behave in certain ways and how this impacts your relationships with others, but (perhaps most importantly) the relationship you have with yourself.

I work in an open-ended way: short term or longer term depending on your needs.

Please do not hesitate to contact me for any further information. I am very happy to have a 15 minute phone conversation with you (free of charge and with no obligation to proceed) to discuss the best course of therapy for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Masters in what is now known as Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Essex, a recognised British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy qualification.

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and abide by the BACP Code of Ethics.

I receive regular supervision to ensure the quality of my work and to maintain professional standards. I undertake continuing professional development to both maintain a safe and ethical practice, but also so that I can learn additional ways of how to better serve and support the needs of my clients.

I have significant experience of working with adults in both my private practice and across a leading telehealth platform.

I have also worked therapeutically with young people in school settings (primary and secondary) and for the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services team in Essex. In the latter, I offered both initial assessments and therapy to young people whilst supporting their families.

I offer in person sessions in both the Kelvedon and Braintree areas, telephone sessions and video sessions over Teams.

I have full practitioner liability insurance.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
