About me

My name is Claire. I am a fully qualified NHS counsellor with 8 years’ experience in mental health and wellbeing. I believe people deserve the best chance of living life to the full.

Life isn’t always easy. At times it can feel overwhelming, confusing, stressful, or simply too much to carry on your own. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, low mood, low self esteem, burnout, stress, or feeling stuck, you don’t have to face it alone

I offer a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about what’s going on for you. Together, we can make sense of your experiences, untangle difficult thoughts and emotions, and help you gain greater clarity and confidence moving forward.

Every person is unique, which is why I tailor sessions to your individual needs. Alongside counselling, I may incorporate cognitive behavioural techniques, nervous system regulation strategies, and psychoeducation to help you better understand yourself and develop practical tools that support lasting change.

There are many counsellors; it’s important to choose the right one. I offer a free, no obligation 15-minute call to have a chat so we can see if you feel we are a good match.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked in mental health and well being for the past 8 years including previous experience working in a prison, working for a mental health charity and the NHS. This included one to one support and group work within the community.

I currently work as a counsellor and emotional wellbeing practitioner. I am also a qualified mental health first aid facilitator. As well as counselling, I also create and facilitate psychoeducational group work.

I am a person-centred counsellor but also use cognitive behaviour therapy techniques. I am currently training in EFT - Emotional Freedom Techniques, otherwise known as tapping. I am fully insured and registered with the BACP. I attend monthly supervision and attend regular training to keep my skills up to date.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
