About me

Whilst anxiety is a normal part of life, it can often become overwhelming and leave us feeling like we are barely coping.  Even if we are doing everything 'right', there can still be a sense of an underlying difficulty that is hard to shift.  This can leave us feeling like we are not living life authentically or being our truest self, overthinking everything and never truly settled.  Looking deeper inwards and getting curious about our past can help us to understand what we need to do to change the present and move into a hopeful future.

My name is Claire and I am a Psychological Therapist in the North East of England.  If you are looking for warm, non-judgemental support to explore the difficulties you are having, then I can provide that safe and empathic space.  Together we can understand how and why things feel tough, and work towards developing lasting change.

For over 10 years I have worked within mental health services in the NHS and I am experienced in treating depression and anxiety disorders (Social Anxiety, Health Anxiety, OCD, Worry, PTSD, CPTSD).  Over the years I have developed a special interest in perinatal mental health (such as birth trauma and fertility issues).  I also very much enjoy working with parents; exploring how the work we do within ourselves can shine through in our relationships with our children and positively impact their development.  All of this means that my work is attachment informed.

My core training is in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and I have delivered this in both NHS Primary Care and Psychology services. I also supervise and tutor on University Cognitive Behavioural Therapy courses - supporting the training of new therapists.

I use EMDR and CFT within my practice. I am flexible in my approach; blending skills where necessary and making sure that the therapy I am offering is tailored to you and your needs.
