About me

My practice is called Pause & Reset Therapy .I’m an Integrative Counsellor and an Accredited Member (MBACP) of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, with a strong focus on supporting people experiencing anxiety.

I support people who feel anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck in their thoughts, whether that shows up as overthinking, feeling on edge, or finding it hard to switch off. My approach is both CBT-informed and somatic-informed, drawing on an understanding of the nervous system to help make sense of what’s happening in mind and body. This allows us to work not just with thoughts, but with the deeper patterns that can keep anxiety feeling stuck or overwhelming.

I offer sessions online, or face to face in a calm, comfortable setting in Burscough. The space has off-road parking and is well served by public transport, making it easy to access.

Training, qualifications & experience

Alongside my private practice, I have experience working within public health services, supporting individuals who may be struggling or in crisis. This has shaped the way I work, offering a calm, grounded space where you can feel heard, supported, and safe.

I’ve also worked across Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs) and in voluntary roles supporting individuals and families, which has given me a solid understanding of how life’s pressures can build and impact wellbeing

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

When you first reach out via email, I’ll send you some initial assessment forms to complete. These help me gain a clearer understanding of what you’re experiencing and how best to support you.

We’ll then arrange a free 20-minute consultation, where we can talk through your responses, explore what you’d like to get out of therapy, and answer any questions you may have.

This is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of how I work, so you can decide whether you feel comfortable and that we’d be a good fit moving forward.

The first session builds on what we’ve already spoken about in your consultation. We’ll take a bit more time to explore your goals in depth, understand your background, and gently look at any patterns you’d like to move away from.

This gives us a clearer sense of direction and helps you feel more supported as we begin working together.
