About me
Hello, and welcome. I’m Claire, an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor based in central Cambridge, offering both short- and long-term counselling in person and online.
As an integrative therapist, I draw on a range of approaches rather than one single model, so we can tailor our work to what you most need.
Together, we may explore:
- how you are feeling and coping in the present.
- how earlier experiences and relationships may still be affecting you now.
- how your nervous system, emotions and body hold and express stress or past trauma.
- new ways of relating to yourself and others that feel safer and more authentic.
My style is collaborative and compassionate. I aim to offer a space where all parts of your mental health experience are welcome – including anxiety, depression or low mood, anger, shame, grief, or simply feeling “too much” or “not enough”.
This can be especially important if you are neurodivergent (ADHD/AuDHD) and have felt misunderstood, masked, or pressured to meet others’ expectations.
Sometimes we have spent years taking care of everyone else while neglecting our own needs especially within families. In our work, we can gently explore what feels difficult, what matters most to you, and move towards greater clarity, self-understanding and choice.
I know starting counselling can feel daunting, and finding the right therapist is important. Building a safe, trusting relationship is central to how I work.
Not everyone needs the same length of therapy. I offer a shorter, focused option of around 6 to 8 sessions, as well as longer term work for those wanting to explore more complex or deep-seated issues.
I see clients from Tuesday to Thursday in person and online - Friday I work online only.
Sessions are £75, with a number of reduced-cost places (£50 or lower) for students and those on lower incomes - we can discuss when we speak.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information
You may have questions, and it’s really in meeting each other that we’ll discover whether I’m the right therapist for you.
You’re welcome to email me to arrange a brief exploratory phone call, with no obligation to continue. If it feels right, we would then arrange an initial session.
If after that you decide you’d like to continue, and I have availability that fits your schedule, we would agree a weekly time that becomes your regular slot for the duration of our work. Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place once a week at the same time.
Sometimes I begin meeting with people weekly so that we can get to know each other, and later we move to meeting every other week if that suits your needs or circumstances better. This is something we can review together.
I use a written agreement that sets out fees, timings, holidays and cancellation arrangements, and we can go through this in our first session. You’re also very welcome to include any questions you have in your initial email.
