About me
I offer counselling for adults, providing a welcoming, supportive space to explore difficulties, understand patterns and work towards meaningful change.
My main therapeutic approach is Transactional Analysis, supported by a relational and person-centred way of working. We may explore thoughts, feelings, relationships, beliefs, patterns and earlier experiences where these are relevant to what you would like from counselling.
I see counselling as a collaborative process rather than something that is done to you. You do not need to know exactly what to say or have a definitive goal before you begin. We can start with what is happening for you now and gradually develop an understanding of what you would like to be different.
I offer face-to-face counselling in Gateshead, as well as online video, online voice-only and telephone counselling for adults across the UK.
Training, qualifications & experience
I completed a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling with Northern Guild and am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).
My core therapeutic training is in Transactional Analysis, and I integrate relational and person-centred principles into my work.
I have also undertaken additional training in online and telephone counselling, enabling me to offer counselling through online video, online voice-only and telephone formats as well as face-to-face.
I work within the BACP Ethical Framework and undertake regular professional supervision to support safe, ethical and effective practice.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
All counselling appointments are £60 for 50 minutes. This applies to face-to-face, online video, online voice-only and telephone counselling. Sessions are normally weekly unless we agree otherwise.
Further information
I aim to make counselling welcoming, accessible, and approachable, and I am happy to discuss reasonable adjustments or communication needs that may help you take part in counselling comfortably.
Sessions are normally 50 minutes and usually take place weekly, although we can discuss what is appropriate during the assessment process.
Face-to-face and remote counselling are both subject to an initial assessment so that we can consider your needs, the counselling format, the way I work, and whether working together seems a suitable fit.
If you are unsure whether counselling with me would be right for you, you are welcome to make an initial enquiry before deciding whether you would like to continue.
