About me
'To understand and be understood is to be free' Daniel Johnston
I am a psychotherapist and clinical supervisor based in South Manchester. For the past 15 years I have supported people with a range of issues such as low mood, anxiety, shame, trauma, emotional dysregulation, relationship difficulties, substance misuse, self harm and suicidal ideation. Life can be hard and confusing. Events and relationships from our past can sometimes, out of awareness, impact us in the present. This can feel confusing, unsettling or even scary. I offer a warm, safe and compassionate place where you can feel heard and where we can try make sense of what is happening in your life.
I am trained in Transactional Analysis psychotherapy which is a theory of personality and interpersonal communication used to facilitate change and growth. I work relationally, with the therapeutic relationship between us at the centre of what I do. I believe that this is where real change can occur, when we feel safe and connected in the relationship.
I have current and past experience of working in charity and statutory settings working with vulnerable young people and adults. Prior to work as a therapist, I worked for a number of years as a statutory Social Worker and as a substance misuse worker.
I offer counselling, psychotherapy and clinical supervision. Finding the right therapist or supervisor can feel difficult. Feel free to contact me to discuss how I might be able to help and how we might work together. I am currently offering appointments face-to-face (at a venue in Fallowfield, Manchester) and online via Zoom.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
