About me
Hello, my name is Christine. I am an Accredited Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. My area of expertise is with adults from the age 18 and upwards. I see clients on an individual basis only.
I work as an Integrative Counsellor, which may include:Psychodynamic therapy, Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (R.E.B.T), Person centred therapy, Rewind Therapy, Gestalt, Creative approaches (using music, poetry, drawing, visualisation work, sand-tray therapy, Russian dolls, pictures, written work, metaphors), Trauma aware, Internal family systems aware, Transactional Analysis (T.A).
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained and completed a Diploma in Counselling, at Central Counselling and Training Services (C.C.T.S.) Southampton (2018) and later qualified as a fully Accredited Counsellor in 2020, with the Association of Christian Counsellors (A.C.C). I also have a backgound working in the NHS for over 30 years and gaining experience working in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural community, as a nurse; so have insight and experience working with different areas of health and issues that can arise and mental health concerns that can present.
I have worked as a counsellor for two charities over the past seven years, supporting general counselling issues in the local community of Southampton and also working with pregnancy loss work in Winchester. I receive professional supervision every month and I am up to date with the Disclosure and Barring Service (D.B.S) status yearly. The Association of Christians in Counselling and Linked Professions (ACC) is a Christian professional membership organisation for those involved in counselling/psychotherapy and linked professions, i.e. pastoral care, coaching and spiritual direction, in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
