About me

Do you feel a need to be heard or given a voice?

Do you have childhood experiences or trauma that are affecting your everyday life?

Are you feeling low or overwhelmed or anxious with day-to-day life?

Do you dwell on past events or are you consumed with worry about the future?

Are you grieving the loss of a loved one?

If you answer yes to any of these questions, then talking to a counsellor like myself may help you to make positive changes in your life!

Hi, My name is Áine. I am the founder of Tarvin Therapy, a private counselling practice based near Chester offering counselling to Adults, Children & Young People (Aged 11-18).

As an Integrative Counsellor, I draw on a range of approaches, including psychodynamic theory, person-centred therapy, and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). This allows me to tailor our sessions to your specific individual needs and goals. Together, we can begin to gently explore patterns in your behaviour, develop an understanding and awareness of your thoughts and memories, and create practical tools to support you in your day-to-day life.

I feel a great importance on building a trusting and supportive relationship, where you feel safe and encouraged to share whatever is on your mind. I understand that opening up, especially about feelings you may not have shared before, can feel daunting. That’s why my aim is to offer a place where you feel heard, understood, and accepted.

You don’t have to face things alone. I will walk alongside you as you move towards greater self-awareness, healing, and becoming the person you want to be.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
